One of the most important holidays in Christianity is Easter. Easter is resurrection of Jesus Christ, which we celebrate in spring. Dates of the holiday varies from year to year but for sure it should be holy Sunday.
Few days before Easter people go to church, bake special Easter cakes, meat and color eggs. One of the symbol of the Easter is a red egg. As a history says when the Virgin Maria told that Jesus Christ was resurrected, people said that it is impossible as if the egg she holded in her hands would become red. It was a miracle but the egg became red in that moment as red as the blood of Jesus Christ. Since that time red egg is one of the symbols of Easter.
The whole week before Easter is the week of very strict fast. On the Holy Thursday before Easter people going to Church to listen to special praying. On this day many years ago there was a secret dinner, where Jesus Christ predicted treachery from the side of one of his 12 follower.
Usually on Holy Thursday people bake special Easter cakes which they will eat with their families on the Easter Day.
For the Easter Day and the day of Jesus Christ suffering on the Holy Friday the Church is decorated in white and green flowers.
On Holy Saturday people prepare nice baskets filled with Easter cake, eggs and other goods which are going to be sanctified in the church. After this people will bring the basket home and will eat everything on the Easter Day in the family circle.
Before the midnight of Sunday the whole night Easter praying is starting. This is very beautiful and holy time when you can feel all the wonders of the belief. The priest share the Holy Fire delivered directly from Jerusalem with all the people in the church.
After the whole night Easter praying people are ready to sanctify their Easter baskets to bring home and to celebrate resurrection of Jesus Christ with their families.
This year I am also going to the night praying and my Easter basket is ready too.
Usually people bake more than one Easter cake to visit their friends and relatives and bring cakes as a gift for others, so do I.
